Yesterday I watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with Fiance and Teenybop, and something stood out to me for the first time. At the beginning of the movie there was a scene where little Charlie has come home from his first payday to find that it's to be cabbage water again for dinner that night ... and he says that he's tired of eating the same old thing each day.
His family is understandably shocked by his out-of-character outburst ... until he pulls a loaf of bread from his sweater. The mood in the room is quite changed as the little family celebrated being able to have something solid for dinner for what was probably the first time in a very long time.
And I'm reminded even in this time of financial worry to cherish and be thankful for all that I've been given.
