A Week of Firsts

This week we have done a lot of things for the first time. It's been funny, hectic, busy ...

On Sunday, Teenybop sat in the sanctuary with my dad and I for communion while Fiance ran the soundboard in the church studio. Now that she is in children's church instead of the preschool class, her class will stay in the sanctuary on the last Sunday of every month so that they can share communion with the congregation. This was a first for us, but not without some Teenybop moments. There was a little skit during the service, a "german" guy named Johann who recieved a few notes from God telling him what to do. It was really cute, easy for even the kids to understand, and really amusing. So of course, when it was over, Teenybop shouts out loud all the way from the back pew, "Hey Pastor Paul! That was funny!" Later, during communion, she made it all the way to the front to receive the bread and juice, made it all the way back to the back without spilling, and made it all the way through the teaching and the eating of the bread together as a church. Then she dropped her juice, all down the front of her shirt. She had been so excited to be included, nervous about all the ceremony, and concerned about the crying boy behind us whose mother thought him too young to participate, that she just dropped her juice. And said very loudly, "DARNIT!" She was so embarrassed and upset with herself that she got all teary until I reassured her that although she could not go get another cup, all was forgiven and it would be okay. A very interesting morning at church.

Then the first real day at Kindergarten (Monday), the first loose tooth (found on Tuesday morning), and Piglet's first sinus infection (also Tuesday) diagnosis with the beginning of her first round of amoxicillan. She likes it, though, so that helps a lot...
